European community pharmacies in ABDA’s Statistical Yearbook 2026

Just in time for its presidency of the European pharmacists’ association PGEU in 2027, ABDA – Federal Union of German Pharmacists’ Associations is publishing an English-language edition of its 2026 statistical yearbook. “German Pharmacies: Figures, Data, Facts 2026” is a 132-page publication providing a comprehensive overview of key facts and figures on the pharmacy market, as well as the latest trends in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors in Germany and beyond.

The yearbook covers a wide range of European and international topics, including “Pharmacy Density across Europe”, “Supply Shortages in Europe”, “Qualified Pharmacy Professionals from Syria and Ukraine”, “Pharmacy-related Legal Regulations in Europe”, “Pharmacy Services in Europe”, “Comparison by Country: Vaccinations in Pharmacies” and “Value-added Tax on Pharmaceuticals”. A separate chapter is dedicated to “Europe, Migration and Integration”.

ABDA is a member of the Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union (PGEU). Former ABDA Vice-President Mathias Arnold will serve as PGEU President in 2027. The PGEU General Assembly elected the 62-year-old pharmacist from Halle (Saale) in May 2026 in Wroclaw, Poland.

“The global challenges facing the supply of medicines are considerable and are growing ever greater,” Arnold said following his election. “It is therefore often worthwhile to look beyond one’s own national borders and find European solutions when national measures are insufficient.”
